For the first time in WWE 2K history, women’s matches will feature blood without requiring modifications. This marks a major step forward in the game’s realism, aligning the women’s division with the same level of intensity as the men’s. As competitors endure more punishment, blood flow will increase, adding to the drama of the in-ring battles.
This update comes alongside the introduction of the Underground Match, a brutal, no-holds-barred fight type that has become a defining part of NXT in recent years. The addition of this mode ensures that WWE 2K25 continues to evolve, embracing the edgier and more intense elements of modern wrestling.
Intergender Matches Return, But With Restrictions
One of the most anticipated features of making a comeback in WWE 2K25 is intergender competition. However, there is a notable restriction—while female wrestlers can now bleed when facing other women, they will not show blood in matches against male opponents.
This distinction ensures that while the gameplay embraces a more realistic approach to women’s wrestling, there are still clear boundaries in place regarding how violence is depicted between male and female competitors. The return of intergender bouts adds another layer of variety for players, giving them the freedom to recreate some of the most talked-about mixed-gender moments in wrestling history.
Insights from WWE 2K’s Creative Director
Lynell Jinks, the Creative Director for WWE 2K, recently spoke with the DS of Ring the Belle about these significant changes. He emphasized the importance of bringing an authentic representation of WWE programming into the game.
“Being able to, like, in women versus women matches, not intergender matches. You can not only, like, cut someone open and see some color on women Superstars, but also bruising, too. If you’re pounding somebody, you’ll start to see bruises on their face or on their body or whatever,” Jinks explained.
He highlighted how pivotal moments in WWE history, such as Becky Lynch’s infamous broken nose—courtesy of Nia Jax—played a role in this decision. That moment, which led to Lynch earning her “The Man” persona, was a turning point for women’s wrestling. Now, WWE 2K25 seeks to capture that same level of realism, allowing female Superstars to show the effects of a brutal battle.

A Step Toward More Realistic Women’s Wrestling
Jinks’ comments come at a time when real-life WWE programming continues to push the boundaries of what is seen in women’s matches. Just recently, Liv Morgan was busted open during a tag team match on WWE Monday Night Raw on Netflix. Teaming with Raquel Rodriguez against IYO SKY and Dakota Kai, Morgan’s injury became one of the most talked-about moments of the night.
The inclusion of blood in WWE 2K25 reflects how far women’s wrestling has come. Not long ago, even putting two female competitors in a Ladder Match came with strict limitations. If a ladder was used in any way other than climbing, the match would immediately result in disqualification. That era is long gone, and the changes in WWE 2K25 mirror the progress made in real-world wrestling.
WWE 2K25 Release Details
Players eager to experience these updates won’t have to wait long. WWE 2K25 is set for release on March 14, but fans who pre-order the deluxe editions will get early access on March 7.
As the franchise continues to evolve, WWE 2K25 aims to offer the most immersive and realistic wrestling experience yet. With the introduction of blood in women’s matches, the return of intergender bouts, and the addition of the Underground Match, this year’s installment is shaping up to be a game-changer.
